Ebisuko Festival

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 24 April 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture.

Ebisu is a god of prosperity. Lots of people attend this festival in Hiroshima each year. Among them are many business people seeking prosperity for their companies.

The lady is some sort of shrine helper. On the way to work shortly before the festival, I walked by the Ebisu shrine to be sure I knew where it was. This lady and another equally beautiful one were there receiving some sort of recognition from a group of men in a kind of ceremony. I assume they were being congratulated for being chosen for this job for the festival.
