Commanding ViewPosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 4 July 2007 in Architecture. Inuyama Jo is situated high on a bluff overlooking the river below. This is Japan's oldest castle with the donjon dating from 1537.

RoBeRt from Cheeseburger, United Statesvery cool ..... probably when it was first built the trees and growth was not that big so you could see all of the structure ..... very nice 5 Jul 2007 1:22am Daroru from Amagasaki, JapanWent here when I lived in Nagoya. Don't suppose you visited Meiji Mura nearby Steve? If I remember rightly Inuyama Jo is the only castle in Japan that remains privately owned by the original daimyo family (i.e. the government didn't confiscate it after the Meiji Restoration). Is that right? 6 Jul 2007 2:54pm |
