Survivor

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 18 September 2007 in People & Portrait.

This gentleman, Shoso Hirai, was 16 on August 6, 1945. That saved his life since he was assigned to work in a munitions factory away from the city center. His younger brother was helping clear firebreaks in the city center. His remains were never identified. His father was similarly never seen again.
