Veteran's Day in the USAPosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 11 November 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture. Today we celebrate the contributions of military veterans. This image is of the World War II memorial on the capitol grounds in Olympia, Washington, USA. It's dedicated to my parents' generation, sometimes called the greatest generation, which in a real sense saved democracy as we know it. I also salute those generations before and after this greatest generation for their contributions. That would include my own. Forty years ago today, I was leading an infantry platoon in the Hiep Duc Valley of Vietnam.
