EYES WIDE SHUT from United Kingdom

Back home in Canada, my wife and I spend a great deal of time visiting locations and exhibitions where the first nation's work and beliefs in the spirits of animals, are shown. I have a huge love for the carvings, statues, and artwork and the beliefs in how each animals is so individually significant to mankind and Mother Earth.

Everything has a meaning and a place in this beautiful thing we call life, and perhaps in whatever world we are destined to inhabit after passing from this one.

A terrific photograph, Steve

Diane Schuller from Hythe, Canada

That's an amazing work of art you captured. It appears to be in the middle of the forest and made from a tree stump in place. Not sure if that's the case but it sure gives that sense. Well captured.

11 Mar 2009 4:04pm

@Diane Schuller: That is the case.

Peggy M. from somewhere in, France

Strange place for a salmon in the middle of the woods, but maybe there's a stream nearby?! Beautiful sculpture and the color toning works very well.

Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United States

This is wild. Was it carved out of a living tree?

11 Mar 2009 11:14pm

@Suzanne: I'm not sure if the tree had been damaged, by wind for example, before being carved or not. However, the roots were still in the ground.

XaviH from Badalona (almost Barcelona), Spain

A very nice B&W developing. And the sculpture is really strange!
