Old Growth StumpPosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 14 March 2009 in Plant & Nature. Early in the last century, this forest was logged. This stump, complete with springboard marks, is testament to this activity. For a picture of springboards in use, check this. The springboards got the loggers above the thickest part of the trunk to make their job easier.
