Parvin Covered BridgePosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 4 April 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. Today begins a new series highlighting the covered bridges of Oregon. I read an article in my local newspaper describing some of them about twenty years ago and have wanted to photograph them ever since. Built in 1921, the Parvin Covered Bridge is a 75 foot (22.9 meter) Howe Truss type spanning Lost Creek in Lane County, Oregon, USA. It has a 10 ton (9.1 metric ton) load limit. Although I find these bridges endlessly fascinating, some of you wont. Therefore, they will be presented in small doses. Besides, I have many more yet to see and capture. A note about dates: Nearly all the bridges you see have replaced other bridges at the same spot that may have been constructed decades earlier.
