Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainIt's an old bridge but beautifully preserved, I suppose that in Lane Country they are very proud of it. 12 Apr 2009 5:49am Ajay from Pune, IndiaA lovely scene. The bridges were made of wood and were covered to protect the beams from deterioration. Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, IndiaWonderful composition and superbly muted tones! Well done, Steve! 12 Apr 2009 7:02am xavier cardell from menorca-barcelona, SpainGood photo. Maybe I would've tryied to enhance the contrast in the middle zone, specially the water and the white paint, but I think it would be quite difficult. It's just and idea... although I'm not sure about it. 12 Apr 2009 8:01am P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomThey are all very similar in fashion but each have their own unique identities 12 Apr 2009 9:35am @P J W Miller: You are exactly right. In fact, I talk a bit more about the subtle differences to watch for in my post two days from now. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesExcellent composition and love the muted colors. Very well done. 12 Apr 2009 11:28am Esther K from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, MalaysiaLooks like you were almost in the water for this shot. Like your POV here, too. The water is so tranquil looking and it would be great to stand on the bridge and look over.... 12 Apr 2009 2:49pm @Marie: The Pacific Northwest gets lots of rain. They all seem to be made in the Howe Truss design, I assume this is a trusted method..? 12 Apr 2009 10:42pm @observing: I found an article on truss design which says the Howe truss is a simple and strong design. That's probably why it caught on but it is considered a rare design. Along with simplicity comes the fact that if any portion of the truss fails, the whole structure collapses. Apparently though, forces could be calculated closely and if large enough timbers are used in construction, they don't fail. JJ from Jersey City, United StatesAnother great shot, another interesting bridge, love the composition and the feel of the flow of the water 12 Apr 2009 11:25pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesWe have several covered bridges nearby, unusual for the area. They were covered to keep ice and snow off the roadway. best...jerry 13 Apr 2009 12:50am Charles from New York, United StatesThis is awesome. Love the angle and the composition. Great series!
