Irish Bend Covered Bridge

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 26 May 2009 in Architecture.

Built in 1954, this 60 foot (18.3 meter) bridge of the Howe truss type spans Oak Creek in Lane County, Oregon, USA. It originally spanned the Willamette Slough on Irish Bend Road until it was moved to the campus of Oregon State University. It carries no motor vehicles but is part of a bicycle and pedestrian path.

Part of the Covered Bridges of Oregon series.

Wonderful DOF in this shot....the daffodils are so pretty and lead you right to the covered bridge. The vignetting holds this altogether. Wonderful shot Steve!

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: I like the red ones. In Oregon though, most are white.

I like the way you crop here, lovely doffodils and a nice blue sky. The bridge makes a nice path between the two.

Monique from Koh Samui, Thailand

Great composition with the flowers in the foreground and the trees in the background make a great framing for the bridge. Personally I don't like the vignetting in this photo, a bit too strong and hard, but the photo is excellent!
