The Milo Academy Covered BridgePosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 17 July 2009 in Architecture. Built in 1962, this 100 foot (30.5 meter) bridge of the steel girder type spans South Umpqua River in Douglas County, Oregon, USA. The bridge replaced a wooden truss covered bridge. It has been covered in wood for aesthetic reasons but has no wooden trusses and is, therefore, not a genuine covered bridge. It's kind of cool looking anyway. Note the rope over the swimming hole. Part of the Covered Bridges of Oregon series.
