Cape Arago LighthousePosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 9 August 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. Commissioned in 1934, this lighthouse is located on an islet just off Gregory Point near Coos Bay, Oregon, USA. The tower is 44 feet (13.4 meters) tall. Beginning in 1866, two other lighthouses preceded this one but both fell victim to weather and erosion. You have to photograph this lighthouse from a distance unless you are willing to wade through the brush. More on that tomorrow. Part of the Oregon Coast series.
