Coquille River LighthousePosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 12 August 2009 in Architecture. First lighted in 1896, this lighthouse was designed to guide ships across a dangerous bar that had claimed eight ships. It was turned off in 1939 after improvements to the river channel. The tower is 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall. Part of the Oregon Coast series.
