Battery Point Lighthouse

I ended my Oregon coast excursion in Crescent City, California. I stepped out of the hotel to shoot the sunset. What did I see? Another lighthouse down the beach! I ran to the hotel desk to ask about getting to it. Since access is dependent upon the tides, it seemed I could make it so, off I went. I got out and back with plenty of time to spare.
The fourth order Fresnel lens was first illuminated in 1856. The light was automated in 1953 and a modern lens was installed. The original Fresnel lens is on display at the lighthouse. This lighthouse has a caretaker on site and is now a private aid to navigation.

Wel, you did shoot the sunset beautifully but not, perhaps, as you might have intended ! the light (the sunlight) is almost liquid here.
