Sandy Creek Covered BridgePosted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 15 September 2009 in Architecture. Built in 1921, this 60 foot (18.3 meter) bridge of the Howe truss type spans Sandy Creek in Coos County, Oregon, USA. It carries no vehicular traffic and is now the focal point of a park. Note the large windows to maximize interior illumination. Also, this bridge has crossed truss members on each side for added strength which is unusual for such a short bridge. Part of the Covered Bridges of Oregon series.
