Crawfordsville Covered Bridge

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 19 September 2009 in Architecture.

Built in 1932, this 105 foot (32 meter) bridge of the Howe truss type spans the Calapooia River in Linn County, Oregon, USA. It carries no vehicular traffic.

Part of the Covered Bridges of Oregon series.

I like this series. I like the angle of your shot for this one. Your images are the only way I will ever see all these covered bridges. I thank you for that!

Ce type de pont est courant aux USA ???

@JPS: Covered bridges are becoming less common as they age. Some states, like Oregon, have made an effort to preserve these pieces of history. Pennsylvania has around 200 covered bridges left or so I have read.

Your collection of covered bridges is inexhaustible... Did you think to suggest your work to a publisher or to a tourism office ?

A fine bridge shot that makes effective use of the trees partially obscuring the view. It's a great looking bridge. You have a lengthy and very fine series of covered bridge shots.

Another excellent shot with an air of mystery to it! I am glad some States make the effort to preserve these..there is nothing quite like them anywhere else in world (as far as I am aware, anyway!)

Such a beautiful shot Steve. I love the leaves against the cover of the bridge, and the way they give this shot such a gentle feel. Lovely.
