Imes Covered Bridge

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 23 October 2009 in Architecture.

Built in 1870, this 81 foot (24.7 meter) bridge of the Town Lattice truss type spans a ravine in Madison County, Iowa, USA. It is located in a park in St. Charles, IA on the eastern edge of Madison County. It was originally located over the Middle River west of Patterson, IA. It carries no vehicular traffic.

Part of the Bridges of Madison County series.

The curve in the foreground draws me into the picture and perfectly compliments the size of the bridge. A lovely shot!

I like very much the treatment here, like an old photography. The structures looks similar to the last one, with these inclined ends. Very good.

I love the look and vintage feel of this image. Old bridges have always been a favorite of mine to photograph. We don't have many remaining now. They have all been replaced with modern bridges!

Very nice.
