Did you find out Steve?
27 Jun 2011 11:58am
@Bob: Joshua Tree NP's Web site says they live 80 - 90 years. I called the park and asked about the trees at the 49 Palms Oasis. The lady said they are 50 - 75 years old.
Simply wonderful, great capture. Probably came right after Noah's flood?

Seems a postcard from the 50's ready to be sent !

The frame is great in your image, the scale of magnitude is also excellent. Superb composition. Good day.
27 Jun 2011 12:17pm
Glorious image, Steve - good to see the little figure sitting there to show us the grandeur of these trees. Your treatment with this vintage border is excellent!
27 Jun 2011 12:29pm
The inclusion of the lone sitting figure give a wonderful sense of perspective Steve! How long indeed? ;-)
27 Jun 2011 12:47pm
I love how you're giving us a sense of scale with these shots! I never would've imagined these trees were so huge. Excellent shot!
27 Jun 2011 1:39pm
Without the figure, I would have misjudged the scale . . quality photography, too.
27 Jun 2011 1:41pm
I love this presentation--very fitting.
27 Jun 2011 2:05pm
They are rather stately looking plants all gathered together. It makes a fine shot and deserves the antiquing effects.
27 Jun 2011 2:43pm
Although it may come as a surprise, those trees are perfectly adapted (they have to be) to the environment. Well photographed, btw.
27 Jun 2011 3:23pm
Oh, absolutely. This is a wonderful treatment, Steve and as always, just a beautifully composed image! I love this one!
27 Jun 2011 3:38pm

27 Jun 2011 6:22pm
the perfect composition and frame! this group of yucca trees looks so "at home" in this desert environment, and the lone human being appears to be the "intruder"!
27 Jun 2011 6:40pm
Excellent photograph. Wonderful clarity. Neat frame
27 Jun 2011 6:45pm
Before seeing the character who gives the size, I considered these hairy trees quite smalls. Excellent !
