The Big Guy

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 23 October 2010 in Plant & Nature.

Shortly after taking this shot, the sun disappeared behind a hill and I returned to my truck. Not wanting to drive out in the dark, I came prepared to spend the night. And that's just what I did to complete the adventure. There were no other people out there for miles around.

It was a moonlit night. I had a cup of tea and watched the jets beginning their descent into Las Vegas. It gets cold at night but I snuggled down in the sleeping bag, in the back of my pickup, of course. There were no howling coyotes but a couple of excited squeaks of some critter discovering the water I had dumped after preparing a noodle bowl the day before. Without a doubt, this excursion was a lot of fun.

The nature settles down wherever, even in the driest places. Seen well!
