A meter at the base of the tower shows that this generator has saved (as of the end of December 2010) 3,291.6 tons of carbon dioxide being created. In a few days, you'll learn why this is especially important on Lamma Island.

@London Caller: I heard a piece on National Public Radio about bats not being able to detect the huge blades and are being killed in large numbers. Once that problem is solved, I don't see a downside. I haven't heard anything about birds.
