More Gardens

Posted by Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 30 March 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

As we approached the village of Sok Kwu Wan, more well tended gardens appeared along the trail. In the right rear of the garden, note the shiny disks hanging on a string to scare away the birds. Know what they are?

Monique from Koh Samui, Thailand

C.d.'s? I know they use them here for that purpose ;) A beautiful garden and so well maintained, a pleasure to look at!

Sarito from Basingstoke, United Kingdom

Lovely shot, not sure what it is, It looks too big for CD's.

30 Mar 2011 7:27am

Florence from Paris, France

CDs. As they twirl and deliver flash of lights, they are supposed to frighten them. I'm not really sure it's efficient. Nice garden Steve, so green.

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

The shiny disks look a little too big for CDs - perhaps the ancient and forgotten laser disk format! Lovely lines and refreshing green you capture here.

30 Mar 2011 9:57am

@Stephen: You got it; these are bigger than CDs. They are old laser disks.

Lara from Vienna, Austria

A beautiful garden with such a meticulous look! Fine place to get some picture of this neat looking place.
It must takes lots of hoeing and work to keep it looking so good.

I have heard another reason in Japan. People say that mole is timid, even in the dark.
