Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 4 June 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

The rocks here are Pinto gneiss and are the oldest in the park at 1.7 billion years old. This type is a metamorphic rock.

Nice shot. I like the relief of the rocks against the blue sky & clouds. Sorry to say I'm not so crazy about the black framing here.

The composition s nice, but IMV, the rocks and flowers are a bit too dark. Did you try to brighten them in PP?

All the best,

Just a wonderful image Steve and it is always so good to see and read your wonderful and informative text! I am also pleasantly surprised to see these bushes in bloom...I don't think that happens much...they look like monkey bushes but I am not sure ...they also look like creosote bushes but I was not aware that the creosote blooms....either way it is a great thing to see...beautifully composed as always, Steve!
