Beside the Road

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 8 September 2011 in Business & Industry.

An older grain elevator beside the road. No one was around that day. There are some a lot older and some a lot bigger.

Many of the smaller grain elevators are being torn down, but some smaller towns fight to keep theirs. I love the expression "Prairie Cathedral" that is sometimes used. Your photo with the perfect tones is a beautiful tribute for them.

This is beautiful documentation, a relic so fast disappearing that future generations
may not know the simple beauty of this icon of the prairies. Magnificent. The tones
are winning 5 stars also.
