Dilapidated Grain Elevator

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 11 October 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This old elevator was sagging and decaying in spite of having some farm machinery parked near it. I enjoyed that cool shape.

Very different from any here on the prairies in Canada. Very unusual shape.
I don't even see the railroad tracks that normally are near for loading. Must
be all alone now. Wonderful photo.

Beautiful angles...decay like this is so interesting and appealing, unless it's in a building of ones own.
Hope it topples, when it does, in the direction away from the equipment. Wonderful shot.

An interesting "juxtaposition" of a grain elevator with multiple forms and facades. I love the free-form rolling hills behind the straight (or semi-straight) walls of the grain elevator.

interesting that this building in the middle of no-where (it seems)... in some respect, the presence of warm light and color tones provided a sense of coming home...
