Walnut Canyon

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 12 August 2012 in Landscape & Rural.

A long abandoned dwelling in the cliff along Walnut Creek. The settlement here, like the one at Wupatki, has been empty for around 800 years.

These early people knew how to make housing that was a protection from most sides, had a difficult access to the opening, and was great place to bad weather. Fine shot of this early dwelling.

je connais ce canyon pour y être allée après une neige, c'était superbe... J'ai toujours cru que ce canyon s'appelait comme cela parce que certains rochers ressemblent à des écailles de noix de grenoble mais non...

13 Aug 2012 2:24am

@Sue-Ann: It must be beautiful after a snow. I would like to see that.

Amazing how the old settlement clings to the cliff face - I guess the paths have long since eroded.
