New and Old

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 8 July 2013 in Architecture and Portfolio.

Notice the rock in the lower left of the frame with the boards still attached. That's what remains of the old bridge. The new bridge is quite a bit higher. I wouldn't want to be there if the water or log jam gets high enough to take it out.

I guess all that debris is pushed downstream when the river is in full spate - unimaginable in summer.

I suspect they built it higher from a lesson learned as the old one washed out. Nice shot of the new bridge.
