Rock Mound

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 4 March 2015 in Landscape & Rural.

Owachomo means rock mound in Hopi. In this wider view, you can see the rock mound on the southeast (left in the photo) side that gives the bridge its name.

After this brief stop at the National Monument, I wouldn't mind returning and hiking the trails, at the bottom of the canyon, near the bridges.

This is wonderful, Steve! It looks almost as if these mounds were made by some giant hand that smoothed them and shaped them...I have always wanted to go to Arches..I am itching to get back to that part of the country..thank You for sharing these with us.
