Tokyo Sky Tree Geometry

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 24 March 2016 in Architecture.

The Sky Tree is built to be earthquake proof with a central shaft of reinforced concrete. The outer structure is attached directly to the central shaft for the first 410 feet (125 meters). From there on up to 1,230 feet (375 meters) the central shaft is connected to the frame with oil dampers that act as cushions in an earthquake.
