A Bit of History

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 4 March 2017 in Architecture.

During the 1920s, the Utah Parks Company built lodges at Cedar Breaks National Monument, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This building is the only structure remaining. It was the generator shed that supplied electricity to the lodge. When the lodge was torn down in 1972, this building was forgotten. It's just off the trail to Spectra Point.

I like these solid lodges built in logs. They evoke for me the westerns at which I looked and liked. Beautiful processing in black and white

It is very impressive with the huge logs used in its construction. I'm glad it was forgotten. Nice shot.

Superb processing and presentation! The 'old' aspect is transmitted nicely through the subtle (and not so subtle) tones and the textures!
