Indian Head

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 23 June 2017 in Art & Design.

One of the many pieces of art by Ricardo Breceda. Originally form Durango, Mexico, he became an artist when he made his daughter a dinosaur statue. Later, he encountered Dennis Avery, owner of Galleta Meadows Estates in Borrego Springs, California. Mr. Avery envisioned his land as a huge outdoor gallery for Mr. Breceda's artwork. So far, there are about 130 metal sculptures on display to the public. I am thoroughly fascinated by these works and am delighted to have learned of them.

This statue pictured is probably a good example of his art work. It's great to have such a show place.

Great find. I like the way you processed the picture with a rough, scratched texture to echo the jagged spines and horns.

an interesting work - his placement makes it appear that either he is sinking into quicksand or rising from the beach, the texture you applied adds interest as well
