Yes, it's all 680 feet (207 meters) of the USS South Dakota, BB-57. Well, it's the concrete outline of that WWII battleship that saw action in the Pacific. Fully loaded, the ship displaced 42,900 tons. The ship's company was 160 officers and 2,113 enlisted personnel.
It was sold for scrap in 1962. Certain items were removed from the ship and are incorporated in this memorial in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
