Those ridges being lighted by the angled sunlight are part of the broad San Felipe Wash. All 35 of the arryos, mentioned a couple of days ago, dump their water into this wash. The raging, muddy torrent created makes its way toward the Salton Sea. That line you see crossing the wash is a highway. It might be a nerve-wracking ride to drive there during a big rain.
