The sky got lighter revealing the campaign signage of someone running for county commissioner. Escalante is a tiny town (village) of around 800 people laid out along Utah State Route 12. In June 1875, the settlers surveyed the valley. Twenty acre parcels were staked out for farming while city lots were marked as well.
