Constructed between 1772 and 1816, this well-preserved adobe building is in the village of Ranchos de Taos. In a 1967 restoration, an attempt was made to coat the exterior with a hard plaster to prevent future damage. The plaster turned out to damage the adobe. So, each summer, the building gets re-mudded with a mixture of mud and straw.
