Grandma's Rose

Posted by
Steve Rice (Olympia, United States) on 30 May 2019 in Plant & Nature.

Alex and Anders gave their grandma this rose for Mother's Day.

I decided to try focus stacking, which my camera will do in a very easy fashion, for the first time. I shot 15 frames and then aligned and blended them in Photoshop which is a super slick automatic process.

They are beautiful these roses and I really like their color. Alex and Anders spoiled their grandma. Thank you for this beautiful picture

I like roses. This is very beautiful. Photoshop is a very good tool. I used myself before Photo shop Element 8. Now it's Gimp 2.8, which is almost as good.

Beautiful results. I have not tried focus stacking but it sounds interesting. Is it like another version of HDR?

30 May 2019 3:58pm

@B. Thomas: The camera focuses on different parts of the subject and takes a shot up to the number you have specified. You load all the photos as a "stack" (one image per layer) in Photoshop. Photoshop then goes through and finds the in focus areas of each image and masks out the rest. It then merges the layers into one image.
