You may remember this image of the cleanup operation following a transformer oil spill. That shot was from Marathon Park on Capitol Lake. I was surprised to see this the other day when going to walk the trail around the lake. It's part of that same cleanup operation. Divers are using hoses attached to pumps to dredge the silt on the lake bottom all around the edges of the lake where the oil had fouled the plant life. The contaminated silt is pumped into the series of green tanks, with the yellow railings, to settle out of the water and be hauled away.
So, that one seemingly small spill has had big ramifications in terms of cleanup and the lake's health.
My cancer has returned after almost a year of being symptom free. For the next few weeks, I have many doctor appointments and tests to determine and begin the advanced treatment best for my situation. My commenting will be intermittent at best.
